Science is basically (very basically): Guessing —> Computing —> Experimenting
At an engineering school, we learn to compute using our minds, pen, and paper. We study theories born from a guess, refined by computation, and verified by experiment. These theories hold because no contradiction exists and no experiment disproves them.
To excel in engineering school, one must compute well and understand how scientists came up with these guesses, how they computed them, and how the experiment didn’t invalidate their guesses.
I go to class to increase my computation skills and learn the full process of scientific reasoning.
